Our family had two places to be today; a temple trip for the youth and Gen's soccer game. So..........we split up. Greg took Alex, Ryan, Brayden, Clayton & Jerimiah to the temple while I went to the soccer game. Greg really wanted our branch youth to do baptisms for his family....so it turned out to be a great day for that! I'm new at geneology, so I only had about 15 names for him ready......but I'm getting there! I should have a lot the next time we go.
Gen did fantastic at her game. Only one left, which is next weekend. She's feeling a mixture of relief (hey, that's a lot of running up and down that field) and saddness. She has really grown to like soccer! She was excited today because Matt, Kayla, Grandpa & Grandma all came to her game to cheer her on. It was also her day for treats - so Matt & Kayla delivered the pretzels, fruit roll ups and lime sodas to her teammates. She's very proud of her Beaver Brother! Afterwards, Grandpa & Grandma had to head back to Portland, but the rest of us went for a great lunch at Fuddruckers and a game of mini-golf. We ended up at Wal-Mart, but Matt couldn't find the scooter he was looking for. A little weird that he wants a scooter you think? He said he's watched more than one bad accident on bikes and thinks he might stick to something a little non-collision like on campus. He seems really happy being at OSU. This was his first trip home...........so glad he made time for his 'ol Mom & little sister. Sure love that kiddo. Oh yes, you're probably wondering who won at mini-golf. Well, Gen had the highest score, so she proclaimed herself the winner. She is just too cute sometimes. We did have to fish the balls out of the water a few times.........but I'll never tell who hit them there (right Matt?) It took us a little while to realize the balls float (we couldn't figure out quite how you were to see them in the pond....the water is green!).
It was so nice to have Greg's parents here for a couple of days. They went to Ryan's game in Stanfield and Alex's game last night. The Mustangs totally ruled last night, not so much at the afternoon game, but the Ponies are still learning. Ryan played really well though. He's one tough little guy. His buddy, Tommy, was pretty hurt, but I spoke to his Mom last night and she gave the "thumbs up". Gen won another cake last night at the big game. Lucky little thing. I just can't convince her to pick the chocolate cakes. She always picks something goofy. It must be my "diet angel" looking at for my interests.
Cherisse flew home for her grandmothers funeral. It was so wonderful to see her. I just wanted to give her a BIG hug at the funeral. I was able to see her last night, so I gave her hugs then. Sure miss that little twirp (a term of affection in our house.)
After attending Sister Lemmon's funeral yesterday, it really got me to thinking about the incredible influence one person has. She had 9 children, who gave her 64 grandchildren, and 41 great-grandchildren. The amount of family present was amazing. It was quite evident how faithful she was, and just how much she loved our Savior. What an example she was to those 114 people in her life! I can only imagine the legacy she has left in their hearts.
A mother holds her childrens hands for awhile; their hearts forever.
