Alex, Greg & Ryan went to Camp Fife this week (located about 60 miles out of Yakima, Washington). Greg came back a day early so that he could attend some meetings and brought photos. He said the encampment was by far the best that he has EVER been to! I am so glad that he had this time with our two youngest boys. After such a long primary campaign, he really needed some one-one time with these two young men. He reported that Alex's favorite activity was the big "foam sword" fight. Ryan's favorite thing was challenging the Hermiston (priest age) young men to a game of football. The best part was - - - - Heppner beat Hermiston 8-5! Apparently Ryan's head was so big after the game; he could barely fit in his tent! If you know Ryan very well, he lives for two things: chocolate & football.
Speaking of football, Greg has officially announced that he is now old. After an 8 mile bike-ride yesterday (and I might mention, he said his bicycle seat closely resembled dental floss), he has decided that he is not as young as he use to be. I've already had that "moment" of realization in my life - but it was quite humorous to listen to his version of this epiphany. He also emphatically claimed that playing defense in football is no longer his "thing". Those kids come to hit you, and they really mean it! He proudly smiled though, and proclaimed that he could still play the game well enough to beat some smug teenagers who inferred that he is an "old man". I am so glad that they had a blast. Memories like these are priceless! Great job to the Hermiston Stake for making this encampment such a wonderful event.
Genevieve is preparing for cheer camp. She is so excited! Today she will be going to the pool with her friends. She has been bored stiff less without her brothers. She has decided to set up a "beauty salon" in our basement. Every doll, Barbie & teddy bear within a one-mile radius of our home has now had a shampoo, haircut (and I do mean hair-cut) and makeup applied. The funniest part is that I answered the door and had forgotten that Gen had "made me over" one evening. The visitors were nice not to ask why I looked like a clown. After they left, I remembered that I had bright, red lipstick on that "wonderfully" matched the bright, blue eye shadow. I love these moments with my only daughter.
Cherisse worked for our company last week. She is such a great girl! I'm glad that Grant has found someone so wonderful. I am really going to miss her when she goes to Hawaii. She and I will be braving the night and going to the 12:01 a.m. showing of Eclipse (This is one of those reminders that I am old. Can I stay up that late???)
