Wow, an entire summer is gone! Where did it go? Today was the first day of school. Genevieve spent the entire night up with the stomach flu. At 7:30, we were reading scriptures to the two boys and wishing them luck with their first day of school (yes....Ryan's first day of middle school!) when Genevieve tumbles out of bed and announced she was "just fine" and was going to brush her teeth and get ready for school. Little turkey. She was just sick at 5:30 am. I held her as she went back to sleep.....something I did not get a whole lot of last night! She was too excited to let a little tummy trouble keep her away. She left with a smile on her face and a new, shiny scarf around her neck. Ryan had a smile the size of Texas and Alex was......well, just Alex. Not too much excites him these days (except for the prospect of driving.....he's totally into that one). Now, if he can just find the phone he lost, we might take him up on his offer to go and "ace" the driving test. One step at a time...................
I awoke to find a soggy, wet floor in my basement; Alex forgot to turn off the sprinkler last night after we washed the car for our Gold Beach trip. Gotta love that kid.......despite the fact that he has a hard time finding his brain (which I might add is ATTACHED to his neck!). Sometimes being a patient daughter of our Heavenly Father is a bit hard. A few weeks ago, a guest speaker at church talked about the frustrations of raising teenagers. Been there, doing that. Good thing to know though - it does get easier and someday, I will actually miss these times!
We went boating on Friday with Matt. Good, good time....even though it was quite chilly! Genevieve loves to sit next to her Daddy and go fast. Ryan, who is now a licensed boater in the State of Oregon, is now lovingly referred to as "Captain Ryan". Greg tried to convince Ryan that he was the "Skipper", while Dad was "Gilligan". All was funny until Dad threw a bucket of cold water onto the "Skipper". Ryan decided it would be more fun to be the goof-ball Gilligan, and tossed some water back. Thus began the great Columbia-River water fight.
Matt & Alex just love to go fast on the tube. She-poo loves NONE of it, and hates the fact that she willingly jumps in the car to come on these outings (she thinks we are going to run at the track I guess). She doesn't like water, and she doesn't like going fast. Period.
Greg attempted to use a wake board. We won't expand any further on this comment. I will say this; he did a million times better than I could have done!!!
