The Palmer family left today to take Spencer to the MTC in Provo. How exciting that he'll be serving Christ & the people of Washington D.C. for two years! It has been a privilege to watch Spencer grow & mature; especially in the gospel. Good luck Palmer family - drive safe & have a fun two days in Provo while you prepare to send Spencer off!
We too are preparing for Grants departure to Brazil. We still have not seen his Visa - - hope it does not become delayed. He is anxious to begin this new venture in life, and we are SO proud of his decision. Today I bore my testimony because it was Grants last Sunday to hear my strong faith, belief & knowledge in what he's about to do for the next two years. I could barely make it through. I have been asked (several times) how we can let him go to a foreign country for two years with only written/typed communication. The answer to me is simple; if he can bring just one unto Christ - it's all worth it. He will plant so many good seeds about the gospel, how could we not let him go? People will learn of Heavenly Father and the Plan of Salvation through Grants lessons, teachings & example. That is worth missing him for two years!!!! Can you imagine the lives he will touch with his service? Two missionaries helped us unite our family and go back to church, perhaps Grant will also touch a family like ours. So many exciting things are about to happen for & because of Grant!
Special prayers go out to the family of State Treasurer Ben Westlund today, who died this morning of cancer. For those of you who are familiar with our earlier days at the capitol, Greg spent several sessions next door to Ben & his sidekick Judy. Can’t tell you how many sheets of frozen cookie dough Ben bought from Grant while he was attending the sixth grade in Salem!
