I can't believe it has taken me this long to post pictures and give updates on "happenings"!
First off, I was able to attend the sealing of the Chick family at the Columbia River Temple. What a great evening for their family! We then went to a "farewell" bbq for Quinn on the Sunday after that event. He was dropped off at the MTC in Provo last Wednesday. So proud of him! We've already sent him his first box (an electric razor, how special!)
Then......we had a fun, fun BBQ with our branch family. Ultimate frisbee was the sport! No, no, I didn't play......but I took pictures! I spent a lot of the time holding little Kable. Such a sweetheart! Gen bounced and bounced and bounced on the Lemmon's trampoline. Alex & Ryan totally loved playing Ultimate Frisbee with everyone! After the Ultimate Frisbee games, about 15 kids gathered at our pool and ran between the cold water and the hot sauna in the house. It was quite a night! I think they watched a NetFlix movie after that - but I was out (too much excitement for this old gal)!
We had a really, really fun family reunion last weekend for the Kerr Sisters; Beverly, Karen & Kathi. It was great to actually meet everyone! Can you believe it has taken me this long to meet most of them?? It was unfortunate that the other sibling, Melvin, could not attend due to health reasons. All of our kids (minus our Brazilian) was present! Cherisse & Kayla also came. It was nice! After the reunion party, Alex had his own party here (thus the picture of Bryce playing the guitar below).
Heather & Bobbie were a HUGE help to me.......thanks ladies! Oh yes, and the BIG news......I'm going to be an Auntie again. Congrats to Doug & Heather................I'm so excited! The first thing I'm buying if it's a girl is something pink (ha ha Heather) and if it's a boy, what else, a toy gun.
Then.....we left for Corvallis to take Matt to his START at OSU. Such a huge school! He is now registered for his classes and he's all set to move into his dorm in September. He handled it all really well. If I were 18 and facing that challenge - - - - I'd be scared to death! He is going to do just awesome. He is currently enrolled in "Pre-Engineering". After his Sophomore year, he can apply to the Engineering School at OSU. What a great field he has chosen. I am so excited for him. GREAT things are in store for him over the next four years!
Of course, it wouldn't be a trip to beaver country if Greg didn't proudly wear his Oregon DUCKS shirt. Not to worry, nobody mugged him or tripped him on the streets. One day he wore his BYU shirt, the other his Ducks. Do you ever think I will get him into orange, Beaver attire????? Only time will tell! I secretly signed him up to win season tickets at the fair one morning. Wouldn't it be great if he won them? We'll make a Beaver out of him yet! P.S......I do not have any pictures of our OSU trip. Matt and Greg made fun of me (I guess you're not supposed to take pictures of college-aged kids at their orientation). Between you and I though, there will be a camera when I move him into his dorm. It might be a secret, spy camera on the end of a pen or pencil...........but I will have pictures to mark the occasion.
We are getting ready to go up to Boardman to boat. Matt just got off work and said the water is calm....so we're off. School begins on Monday. We have our school supplies, new shoes, new clothes, a new Barbie lunch box and haircuts. I paid the Jr. High & High School fees ($350!!!!!) on Wednesday. When those kids play sports.....the fees are outrageous! Great lessons are learned on the ball field though......so we're ok with it! Genevieve's first soccer game is September 11th and Alex's first game is next weekend (Labor Day weekend) in Gold Beach. Ryan's schedule is TBA. We will be traveling down into California (after Gold Beach) to visit some places along the way. Trees of Mystery here we come! We're also going to go through Eugene and go to the Ducks vs. New Mexico game. It's going to be a BLAST! Good thing it's an extra-long weekend (we're going to be tired from our vacation!).
Yesterday we received pictures from Grant and a box of his stained ties (lol - guess he's enjoying all those Brazilian BBQ's just a little too much!). He sent a gift for Greg and I, and letters for everyone. Unfortunately, he had a terrible camera with him (which he sent home in the box), but I was able to retrieve some of the pictures of Sao Paulo. I've been sending him disposable cameras (because he had previously emailed about this camera not being very good) - but those pictures are even worse! In the pictures, you can just see how humid it is. There are a few really GREAT pictures though, so I've posted them on his web page (click here). We really miss that kid, but are so PROUD of all that he is doing. I especially enjoyed the photo he took of his name tag on the hymn book. I also loved the photo he took (which is below) of a page out of a book he read at the MTC. Makes you remember - be happy and make the most of your day!

Oh yes, and cross your fingers, Alex will be taking the driving permit test again next week! "Mom the Taxi" needs some help.....I'll be driving all those Seminary kids to/from class each day. The up side is - Jenny Mahon agreed to do it with me! New school year - - here we come!
