Matt & Kayla had a wonderful time at the prom. I'm posting some pictures. They looked really great! I caught up with them at the bowling alley in Hermiston. Yes, you read that correctly.....they went bowling for their big date before the dance! All 20 kids! As graduation gets closer, I'm covered in paperwork from OSU. This is getting more confusing with each step.....but so proud that he's worked so hard to be accepted into such a great program!
Grant arrived safely at the MTC in Brazil. He was able to call us from the airport for approximately 20 minutes. It was so great to hear from him! Here is a letter from his mission President:
Dear Parents,
We are happy to send the good news that your missionary has arrived safely at the Brazil MTC. What a great joy and privilege it is to greet each missionary as they come through the front door of the MTC for the first time. We promise to take good care of your missionary.
They now have companions and are settled into their rooms. They are assigned to a district with capable and caring instructors for language and lesson study. The branch presidents and their wives, will soon give them a second greeting. These couples are rewarded in their callings through the love they always develop as they embrace and watch over the missionaries.
The MTC has a full time live-in physician to care for their health needs. He is assisted by his able wife. We are also happy to report that the Cafeteria food is abundant and very good.
Your missionary will be able to e-mail home on Preparation Day after a morning at the Temple. This will be either Tuesday or Wednesday, depending on individual assignments.
Your very important young person is about to make an eternal difference in the lives of others. We hope you will be encouraged and comforted by this quote by President Lorenzo Snow: “There is no mortal man that is so much interested in the success of an elder [sister] when he is preaching the gospel as the Lord that sent him to preach to the people who are the Lord’s children.”

Grant's personal day should be tomorrow - so we're looking forward to our first email from Brazil!
Alex will be re-taking his driver's permit test tomorrow. This should be exciting for him! He's working hard at school and re-taking a lot of exams to get the best grades possible. That takes a lot of endurance - and we're proud of him! Having Dyslexia can be a major hurdle but he is doing fantastic. Attitude is 90% of the battle - and he's doing great! Alex has been a pillar in our re-election campaign, and were grateful for that. This kid is a door-door machine :)
We dropped Ryan off this morning for his first official day at outdoor school. He was so excited, he only forget 4 items. Love that little guy! We posted on Facebook a little story about our Rhino. We asked him to do some chores and he happily agreed. He thought cleaning toilets sounded like a lot of fun! So, he got the brush and the cleaners and headed into the bathroom. Later, we could hear him singing, rather loudly, "I love cleaning the toilet, yes I do, I love cleaning the toilet, why don't you.....". We laughed for hours!
And then there is our Genevieve. Our precious 7 year old that just wonders when this campaign is going to be over so we can play, play, play instead of work, work, work. She's been a good trooper, and is great at door-door. She really loves that Daddy of hers. She's looking forward to their annual Daddy/Daughter weekend in July. Oh yes, she's planning away. I'm putting up a picture of her idea for a "campaign poster" for her Daddy.
