We have a very sweet family friend who was flown to Doernbecher Children's Hospital yesterday. He has pneumonia and began having further problems at 5 am this morning. He is scheduled for a chest tube to alleviate some of the issues. Please keep Roy Collins and his family in your prayers. A bank account to defray expenses has been set up by the Forest Service at Bank of Eastern Oregon. In addition, you can contact Darcy Robinson (at the high school) to donate a meal for the Collins family (Patrick & Maggie stayed in Heppner with their Grandparents while their parents and Roy remain in Portland).
We love the Collins family....please send your thoughts & prayers their way.
I received a great hand out in Relief Society this weekend. Some thoughts/ideas to ponder this holiday season:
1) This Christmas, write letters to several people who have had a positive influence on your life. Thank them for this gift they have given you.
2) This Christmas, give yourself the gift of living in peace with those things you cannot change.
3) Remember that the loving holiday spirit in your home depends more on the words you speak than the gifts you give.
4) Be others-centered instead of self-centered. A person wrapped up in himself makes a very small package.
5) On New Year's Day, light three candles and think about the three things that happened the past year for which you are most thankful.
6) Call a nursing home and get the names of five people who don't often receive mail. Send each one a beautiful Christmas card. Sign it, "from Santa" or "the Elves".
