We watched our oldest son get on a plane to the MTC today. I'm not going to lie, I cried as I hugged him goodbye & all the way home. I told him what a good missionary I know he will be. Genevieve was crying before we left the terminal and had her Daddy hug her tight all the way to the parking garage. But they are happy tears (ok, ok, mixed with some sad ones on my behalf). Letting go for two years is really tough. He caught my eye as we went around the corner and I waved with a smile and said "I love you". He waved back with that "Grant" look he always gives me. I know he's in good hands....and the lives that he will touch are beyond measure. We are so proud of his desire to serve the Lord. Once I get my first letter/email from him....I'll be back on track! Just a little teary today.
We spent some time with Grandpa, Grandma, John, Dallon, Doug, Heather, Nick & Annie.....& had a very fun dinner last night. We all stayed up and watched Grant move his items from one suitcase to two...then weigh it over and over. Packing for two years is a big task! Grant was the first one up....and told us to get a move on!
I'm really going to miss that kid. Pray for our missionary - he's off to do a great & marvelous work!
As I have one off to Brazil and another graduating in two months, I had to re-read my favorite Dr. Seuss book "Oh the Places You'll Go". It's a good thing Genevieve is staying in Mulino for three days with her Aunt Heather, Annie & Nick (or she would say, "Don't read that book Mommy, it always makes you cry").
Grant and Matt will succeed, oh yes they will indeed......98 and 3/4 percent guaranteed!
